How can I access the online version of the American History textbook?
- Log in to your NC Ed Cloud account (see link above if you do not know how to log in to NC Ed Cloud). The textbook link can be found there. Please let Mrs. Wilson know if computer or internet access is an issue for you. Hard copy textbooks are available for students who need them.
- Stay organized! I have a very specific way that I'd like you to organize your notebook. Keeping up with your Table of Contents allows you to easily locate materials. It is also useful to keep track of what you may have missed to do an absence. Remember, students are responsible for work missed while absent from class. It is very important to keep track of due dates. Check your unit outline (posted on my website at the start of each new unit) for assignments and due dates. I recommend that at the start of each new unit you print a copy of the outline to keep in your binder.
- Participate! Come to class prepared to actively engage in the material at hand. Make sure to ask questions when you don't understand a concept. Volunteer to answer questions often.
- Study! This seems like a no-brainer, but it is very important. At the start of each unit, I will post the Unit Study Guide to my website. I recommend you print the study guide on the first day of each new unit. Keep it in your binder and work on it some each day as we progress through the unit. You will find each day you are able to answer a few more study guide questions. Before a major test, study the study guide by having a friend ask you the questions or by covering the answers to see if you've got it. Another study tip: make flashcards with the key vocabulary (listed on your study guide) for the unit. Quiz yourself using the flashcards you have created.
- Required materials include a 3 ring binder devoted only to this class, notebook paper and a writing utensil each day. Recommended materials include colored pencils and highlighters.
- Each student will have access to the American History II textbook through an online log in. The reading assignments for each night are included on each unit outline. If you do not have internet/computer access, please see me and I will gladly assign you a hard copy of the text.
- Yes! Review sessions will always be held eacb Tuesday from 2:30-3:00pm. These review sessions are largely based on student questions, so come prepared to ask questions about the material. I am also available for individual tutoring at other times if you need additional help. Just contact me to schedule!
